The winter has officially started, and that’s why it’s time to get the skates out of the closet again. To be able to skate, we are fortunately no longer dependent on natural ice! In Amsterdam you can find pop-up skating rinks, which open their doors for a few weeks to a few months. But for everyone who prefers to skate on a larger skating rink or on natural ice, there are also opportunities. Amsterdamonline247 put the best spots at a glance.

1. Ice Amsterdam Museumplein

Until 3 February, Museumplein has been transformed into the atmospheric Ice Amsterdam. With views of the Rijksmuseum, visitors can enjoy the winter delicacies and the cozy winter atmosphere. The Ice skating rink is open from November until 3 February 2019, Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 21:00 and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00. Entrance and rental of skates from € 6.50.

2. Ice hockey at Floor17

Enter the ice at a spectacular location? Then you should be at Floor17. The Amsterdam roof terrace opens at an altitude of 85 meters, a real skating rink, where you can both curling and ice hockey. There is an ice hockey track and there are two curling lanes, and you can also enjoy hot chocolate. Despite there are many other drinks and a nice menu for when you are hungry. The Ice hockey rink is open from December 1st until February the 3rd, open daily from 12:00 to 22:00. One hour of ice hockey or curling costs you € 60.

3. Ijsbaan Rembrandtplein

Also take a look at the ice rink on the Rembrandtplein. You can skate there every day from 10 am to 11 pm. There are lights in the trees, “snow” cannons, complete with LED-lit artificial trees, wooden chalets, Christmas trees and of course in the decor of the ‘Nachtwacht’ sculpture group that is characteristic of the Rembrandtplein. And of course there are all kinds of delicacies: oliebollen, waffles, churros, sausages and mulled wine … Cozy winter atmosphere on the Rembrandtplein! Open from 16 November 2018 to 6 January 2019, from 10:00 to 23:00, entrance from € 2,50.

4. Jaap Eden Ice rink

You also have the big and relaxing Jaap Eden Ice Rink, where you can also skate on natural ice. Skaters can also get loose on both a 400-meter track and an indoor ice rink. At Café Jaap you can completely relax after all your efforts and get a warm meal, such as typical Dutch stew. Open until 6 March, varying opening times (see website), entrance from € 7.70.

5. Ijsbaan Haarlem

Close to Amsterdam you can find ice skating rink Haarlem. The professional IJsbaan Haarlem is for both real skating experts and beginners. If you do not dare to go on the 400-meter track, you can practice your skating skills in the courtyard. Ice hockey players can also go here. Open until 24 March 2019, Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 23:00, Monday from 08:30 to 16:30 and in the weekend from 09:30 to 12:00 to 16:00, entrance from € 6.70.
