Free parking in Amsterdam

Free parking in Amsterdam: whether you come to Amsterdam by train or car, you will lose costs on a train ticket or petrol. And parking costs … right? We were curious if, where and when you can park for free in Amsterdam. That turns out to be difficult, but in the end we still have good news for you.

Within the Ring

Within the Ring you can park for free in Amsterdam East, on the northern part of the Fizeaustraat and the Driebrugpad, at sportpark Middenmeer. You can park here for up to four hours. From here you take tram 9 and you are at Dam Square within half an hour.

Outside the Ring

Outside the Ring it is easier to park for free: in the Nieuw-West district and in the South-East part of the city you can park in different places. In Amsterdam. On Sundays you can park for free in Amsterdam, except in the city center (canal ring), the Jordaan, near Artis, at the NDSM shipyard in North and South-East.

Blue zones Amsterdam

In the areas outside the Ring A10, the blue zones are also being introduced more and more often. In this zone you may only park for a short time with a parking disc. The maximum parking time varies per district and per area. You may not exceed the maximum parking time.

Free parking on Sundays and public holidays

You do not have to pay on Sundays and public holidays in most suburbs of Amsterdam. During New Year’s Eve, Amsterdam deviates from the fixed pattern for parking on public holidays.
