Swimming spots in Amsterdam

Where to swim in Amsterdam?

Swimming spots in Amsterdam: These high temperatures naturally require cooling. Especially for people in the city we have selected the best spots where you can swim in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam there are enough (secret) places where you can take a dip.

Cafe de Ceuvel

On the veranda, in the hammock and on the slipway on the water… Cafe de Ceuvel is perfect for a wonderful summer day. This place can be found at Korte Papaverweg 4 in Amsterdam Noord and is a relaxed place for both a beer and a dip from the climber.

Gaasperplas

The Gaasperplas can be found in the Southeast of Amsterdam. You can easily cycle to this place, but for the lazy ones among us this spot can also be easily reached by metro. The Gaasperplas is not equipped with catering facilities, so when you visit this lake, remember to bring your own food and drink.

Marineterrein

The area behind the Scheepsvaartmuseum is not just a naval base. On the contrary: for example, there is a real brewery (Homeland) and you can swim there. Since a few years, the water quality has finally been good enough here to take a dip – or at least have a good time with a view of the famous VOC ship, NEMO and Hannekes Boom.

Amsterdam Roest

It will be the last year that you can swim alongside Amsterdam Roest, after that it will be a building site. Very unfortunate, because this place has everything you need: a sandy beach and access to good food and drinks. Amsterdam Roest can be found at Jacob Bontiusplaats 1 in Amsterdam, so you are still in the middle of the city.

Bogortuin

The Bogortuin on the Java island has grown over the past year and a half to become a favorite chill spot. Here you can get a cheap six-pack beer from Café de Zuid and chill it on a large, green lawn in the middle of the IJ. In addition, the water is pure enough to take a dip from the quay and you can swim to the platforms on the water in no time.

Ouderkerkerplas

You have to travel for a while, but then you also have something. The Ouderkerkerplas can be found in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, where you can relax on one of the two sandy beaches that can be found here. Because of the green surroundings you immediately forget that you were just in the big city and people who do not like sand can also go to the lawn.

Haas & Popi IJburg

At Haas & Popi on the beach of IJburg, you look out over the IJmeer. A colorful (particularly child-friendly) address (with a fireplace and of course an unparalleled terrace – depending on the weather) with surprising, particularly tasty and constantly changing dishes with beautiful matching (organic) wines.

Sloterplas

The Sloterplas has undergone a major transformation with the arrival of the Sloterstrand. It is now an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming in Amsterdam. There are also several adjacent restaurants such as Hotel Buiten where you can have a drink after a day of sunbathing. Or organise a BBQ!
