Picnic in Amsterdam

What could be nicer than having a nice group of friends, family or colleagues picnicking in Amsterdam? Relax on a rug full of delicious fresh and original dishes in the open air. We listed the best picnic spots in Amsterdam

Good old Vondelpark

Something for everyone … that it’s Vondelpark! Dads and mums with little ones ogle at each other on rugs at the paddling pool. Prefer the peace and quiet? Then go a little further into nature towards the south. Large and probably busy, but certainly fun too! The nice thing about Vondelpark is that there is always something to see. So nice people watching. Let that long summer evening begin.

Artis

The entrance ticket costs a bit … but picnicking here is great. Special ZOOmravonden (summernights) every Saturday in June, July and August. Picnics together until sunset. Every ZOOmeravond a performance by a special artist.

Amstelpark

You can also go to Amsterdam South to have a picnic in the Amstelpark. They have a little train here that you can sit in and ride around the park. Relax and enjoy the summer sun. Lose yourself in the maze … free entrance.

A floating picnic

Stepping on board a small electric boat with a basket full of delicious food and drinks. Curious where you can reat a boat? We listed boat rentals in this article.

Het Amsterdamse Bos

Picnic benches, lakes where you can swim (and cool off!) And 6 public BBQs. This already sounds like your perfect spot for a picnic in Amsterdam. Get your friends together and have fun in het Amsterdamse Bos.

Sloterplas

When it is hot, it is also nice to have a picnic near (swimming) water, so you can cool off. That is possible at the Sloterplas! Put on your swimsuit, have dinner and you’re good to go! Feel like special beers? Go to Hotel Buiten, there they have plenty of choice.

Oosterpark

You can also picnic in the Oosterpark. Come with your picnic basket full of nice foods such as fruits that you have picked up at the Dappermarkt!

Westerpark

Sit with your rug on the water at Westerpark. Plus: Westerpark is one of the few parks in Amsterdam where you can still have a BBQ, so I would say: switch on that BBQ and enjoy!
