Kingsday 2019

Kingsday 2019

King’s Day is officially the national celebration of the birthday of the Dutch king. In reality, however, it is simply an excuse to party very exuberantly. The celebrations take place throughout the Netherlands, but are especially special in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam, King’s Day (formerly Queensday) is by far the largest outdoor event and attracts many visitors every year.

Kingsday 2019: All-Day Street Party

Several places in the city centre such as Rembrandtplein, Spui and Leidseplein are full of celebrating people dressed in orange. On Kingsday all street sales are uncontrolled, so it is also ideal for people who are looking for second-hand items. In the Vondelpark mainly children sell and there are fun activities for the little ones too!

Free parties and start times during Kingsday

From 9:00 am most cafés and terraces are opened, just like most of the free markets. The parties and events start at noon. There are free open air parties (especially in the city centre) in many places.

End of all outdoor activities

All outdoor activities end at 8 pm. Yet, the party continues inside in the many cafes and clubs.

If you like parties, make sure your visit to Amsterdam coincides with Saturday, April 27, 2019.
